Wiltshire Council has produced a booklet for local businesses explaining new regulations about doorstep selling.
The new laws are designed to protect consumers when they enter into contracts signed in their home or place of work and gives seven days for people to change their mind if they agree to buy goods or services.
Wiltshire Council investigates incidents of rogue traders on a daily basis and say that without exception when officers investigate cold caller incidents no cooling off rights have been given.
Sue Wilkin, of Wiltshire Council’s trading standards department, said: “It is essential that traders get on board with this legislation. We know that local businesses are honest and want to do the right thing and we want to help them compy which is why we have produced this guidance.”
