Frome Town Sports v Trowbridge Town ‘A’

Frome Town Sports’ last games saw the visit of mid tabled Trowbridge Town ‘A’.

The match was evenly contested throughout and at half time it was one apiece. Trowbridge scoring first and Frome equalising through Jon Bennett.

The second period saw Trowbridge recapture the lead and then with just five minutes remaining Matt Allcott tapped in from close range to seal a point for Frome.

Semington Magpies v Freshford United

Freshford secured fifth place in the table after travelling to play Semington Magpies and recorded a 4-1 victory.

By halftime the Somerset side were two goals to the good, Chris Birleson and Phil Little getting the all important touches.

The second period saw Dave Birleson extend the lead to three goals, before Andy Harrison pulled a goal back for Semington.

With time then running out Adam Hyde scored Freshford’s fourth to seal the win.

Steeple Ashton v Seend United

With the League Trophy presented before the match and some of their players playing in their last game, Seend entered the field of play in party mode, some players with their faces painted.

The football however was taken seriously and by halftime it was 3-0 to Seend.

The second half only a minute old saw Ashton awarded a free kick some 40 yards from goal. Up stepped Marc Sheppard to take the kick which was hit high into the air, as it came down the Seend keeper under no pressure could only fumble the ball onto the underside of the cross bar and into the net.

Both teams continued to play good football and then with nine minutes to go Ashton scored a second goal through Matt Gurke to set up a tense few final minutes, however Seend held on for the win.

The Deverills v Bradford United

The Deverills confirmed second place in the table as they beat Bradford United 1-0 with a goal scored in the second half through Nick Bunyard.

Westbury United ‘A’ v Lavington

A & B Cup finalist Lavington travelled to Westbury United and ninety minutes later left well and truly beaten after losing 11-1.

By halftime Lavington were dead and buried as it was 5-1, Westbury’s goals coming from Ashley Easton with three and a brace from Kieran Stone.

The second period saw no rest spite for the visitors as they conceded a further six goals, scored by Dave Castle (2), Mattie Bowen (3) and Adrian Chantry.
