More than 1,000 performers are expected to turn up to the 9th Annual Festival of the Voice this Saturday at the Stourhead estate near Warminster.

The festival is on at the same time as Radio 1’s Big Weekend but organisers aren’t worrying about the competition as the festivals are worlds apart, with a wide variety of groups and solos artists lined up to perform in the world famous gardens.

From traditional classics and modern covers to chamber choirs, folk and jazz, the groups will be performing on rotation throughout Saturday at the Pantheon, the Palladian Bridge, the Copper Beech, the Bristol Cross, the courtyard of the Spread Eagle, St Peter’s Church, the Upper Courtyard and the Inner Hall of Stourhead House.

Visitor services manager for Stourhead, Leanne Clements, said: “Even if you know the garden like the back of your hand, our hope is that exploring it with new sounds, voices and melodies in the air will make you see it in different ways.

“From the car park to the lake and even in places that don’t have names, you’ll be accompanied on your walk by the sound of choirs and singers.

“There really is something for everyone and every taste with this truly unique event.”

The groups and solo artists range from first time performers to festival favourites and this month’s festival at the National Trust’s estate is set to be the biggest yet.

Local new community singing group Sing Happy who are from Corsham will be performing for the first time at the festival.

Each act will be performing two or three times during the day working on a rotation system from 11am to 6pm.

There is no additional price for the singing, and entry to the garden is free for National Trust members.
