Friends and family of Joan Read gathered for her 90th birthday party at the Masonic Hall in Trowbridge, when Mrs Read, of Clarendon Avenue, Trowbridge, enjoyed a buffet lunch with 56 guests.
She was born at Limpley Stoke and met her future husband Gordon when she was 13 and he was 14.
Mrs Read has been part of many clubs and societies, including the Conservative Association, the local Guide Dogs for the Blind branch, Melksham Flower Club and Trowbridge Townswomen’s Guild.
Mr and Mrs Read will be celebrating their platinum wedding anniversary in August next year.
Their son John said: “We had a surprise party for my father’s 90th – this one was not a surprise but it was a fantastic day, a very happy event.”
