A date has been set for an appeal into the refusal of planning permission for an earth shelter house in a village near Warminster.
Clive Michael, 72, hopes his dreams of having his own underground home in Sutton Veny, which is designed to last 1,000 years, will be realised after it goes to appeal at 10am on Saturday, June 6 at Wiltshire Council’s offices in Bradley Road, Trowbridge.
The earth shelter, which would be built using low emission concrete and recycled stone and rubble, was refused planning permission by the former West Wiltshire District Council’s planning committee on August 21, as it was deemed to be 'outside of village policy limits'.
The two-floor earth shelter would feature a hallway, kitchen, office, conservatory, dining room, lounge and a double garage.
The shelter would be set into the ground, with windows and a conservatory allowing light into the home.
