Three men have been charged after drugs with a street value of more than £1m were seized in the second biggest police operation of its kind in Wiltshire.

The arrests were made as part of Operation Scarlet, carried out by the Wiltshire organised crime team, based at Gablecross.

In the latest victory for police, cannabis skunk with a street value of over £1m and £20,000 cash has been recovered and police have raided buildings at an isolated farm near Swindon.

Discovered at the farm buildings was a fork lift truck, shrink wrapping equipment and other drugs related items.

In addition, a van was stopped on the M4, where £150,000 worth of cannabis skunk was seized and £1,000 worth of cannabis and £900 was seized from a house in Swindon.

A 44-year-old kitchen fitter from Kent, a 40-year-old unemployed man from Swindon and a 51-year-old builder from Hampshire, have been charged with conspiracy to supply controlled drugs and are remanded in custody to appear before Swindon Magistrates' Court today.

Detective Chief Inspector Bob Hamlin, leading the investigation, said: "This is a major and ongoing investigation and is probably the second largest operation of its kind in Wiltshire.
