Division One:
Blue Circle v Lavington
Lavington travelled to Blue Circle and came away with all three points after winning a nine goal thriller by the odd goal.
Blue Circle started the better and raced into a two goal lead thanks to a brace of goals from Matt Bradley.
Lavington then hit back with two goals of their own with strikes from Rob Jenks and Steve House and with only twenty minutes played.
Both teams continued to play attacking football and Circle regained the lead five minutes before the interval as Garic Hopkins tapped in from close range, two minutes later Rob Jenks scored his second to level the match again.
The second period saw no let up in the attacking football played by both sides and with the half only ten minutes old Lavington took the lead as Steve House scored his second goal.
Not wanting to give up the Cement Men went in search of yet another equaliser and they duly scored with twenty minutes left as Darryl Maxwell netted.
The last ten minutes saw both teams go in search of the winner and with time running out Wes Palmer popped up to head the ball home for Lavington and take all the points.
Freshford United v Westbury United ‘A’
With fourth place still a possibility for Freshford, they dropped two points as they were held to a 2-2 draw against Westbury United ‘A’. The half time interval saw Westbury go in with a one goal advantage scored by Ashley Easton.
Freshford started the second period rejuvenated and soon found themselves on level terms thanks to a Chris Birleson goal and five minutes later they were in front as Tony Brett scored. Westbury continued to battle and got their deserved equaliser with ten minutes left as Dave Castle scored.
Semington Magpies v The Deverills
The Deverills fourth league game in 8 days saw them defeat Semington 3-1, thanks to a good performance and 2 penalty decisions.
A windy day and hard pitch meant that conditions were going to pay a part, they had a hand in the Magpies opener, The Deverills had a throw on the halfway line, Davies and Bunyard looked to work the line, But Davies was forced into playing backwards and his pass was completely missed by the normally assured Adam Lewis, who let the ball run under his foot, straight into the path of the Magpie striker Dan Rimmer, who beat Lewis giving the home side the advantage.
This looked to give them the lead at halftime, but Lee Carpenter had other ideas, Davies put the ball into a good area, Carpenter controlled, flicked over his marker then moved towards goal.
The winger then feigned one way, hoodwinking a defender in the process, beat another then lashed into the goal with his left foot.
The Deverills were buzzing after this and went on to take the lead, Captain Aaron Stevens wriggled his way into the box, his drag back baffled the defender who dragged him down, the Referee let play continue but as The Deverills had no advantage he awarded the spot kick, up stepped Payne who slotted home his 24th goal of the season off of the left hand post for a 2-1 lead.
The second half saw Semington come out fighting and were unlucky not to equalise, a rasping long ranger had Lewis well beaten, but the strike cannoned off the post and fell into the grounded keepers hands.
This was a let off and seemed to deflate the home side as The Deverills took hold of the game, as the pressure mounted the Referee then awarded a second penalty, this time a harshly judged handball against a Magpie defender.
Aaron Stevens stepped up this time and smashed home his third goal of the season. The Magpies wings were clipped after this, as the Deverills started enjoying themselves, even Gary Lewis was smiling, although he later admitted it was due to watching Sean Holton’s touch.
The fourth goal should have arrived from the foot of Lee Carpenter, Mikey Payne delivered an inch perfect cross and in true Ronny Rosenthal fashion, Carpenter blazed over from under the bar.
McClellan brought on Hargreaves, Fellowes and Clifford for the final 10 minutes as the Deverills eased their way to another 3 points.
Steeple Ashton v Frome Town Sports
Frome Town Sports poor run of form continues as they travelled to Steeple Ashton and lost 4-1. The Somerset side scored the only goal of the first period through Frank Alexander.
With nothing to play for but pride Ashton came out for the second half and tore into the Frome defence right from the whistle and scored the equaliser through a Matt Gurke header.
Three minutes later it was 2-1 to the host as Gurke scored his second. Marc Sheppard’s ball playing from the back was opening up Frome as their backline got caught out time and time again. With Ford and Collins running the midfield it wasn't long before Ashton got a 3rd when Mortimer fired in from 10 yards (3-1).
A dejected Frome side then conceded a fourth goal inside the final five minutes as Hallett’s cross is smashed home by Collins (4-1).
