The Sawtells picture was sent in by Dina La Vardera, of Calne, who was lent it for research she is doing on the feather trade at Sawtells of Melksham.
It shows Bertram Riggs delivering feathers to Sawtells, which closed in 1958. Can any readers date the picture and help fill in any more details?
She would also like to know more about the vehicle, a mechanised Great Western Railways lorry, registration number YR 2662. Do you have memories of your family working at Sawtells?
The Airsprung picture from the files at Trowbridge Museum shows workers in the machine room at Airsprung, in Trowbridge, in the 1950s – possibly making feather-stuffed bedding.
