Born: April 18 at 5.50am Weight: 8lb 5oz Parents: Matthew and Nicola Hillier, of Staverton.

Jasmine is the second child for Matthew, 33, and Nicola Hillier, 28 and a sister for their three-year-old son Noah.

Mum Nicola said her pregnancy and labour were very straightforward. The labour only lasted four hours and Jasmine was born within an hour of arriving at Trowbridge Birthing Centre.

“I would have really liked a water birth,” she said. “But there just wasn’t time because she was born within an hour of us getting there.”

The experience was very different from last time, when she had to be transferred to Bath’s Royal United Hospital to have Noah and then back to Trowbridge Maternity Unit to recuperate.

Now the maternity unit is a birthing centre new mums are not taken in as inpatients, but Mrs Hillier said it still offered the same great level of care from the midwives.

“This time I stayed in Trowbridge to give birth and I was allowed to stay here until about 2.30pm and I was the only one in there too,” she said.

“They are absolutely brilliant, the midwives are just as good as the first time round.”

The couple chose the name Jasmine the first time round and are very happy their new baby is a girl as they couldn’t decide on another boy’s name.

Jasmine has a very healthy appetite and has been sleeping fairly well too, as well as getting lots of kisses and cuddles from her big brother.

Mrs Hillier is a support worker at Kingsbury Square Hostel in Melksham and Mr Hillier is a forklift truck driver at Peter Black’s in Trowbridge.
