PREMIER DIVISON: The top game in the Premier division of the Robson Taylor, Chippenham League this weekend has to the one at the Recreation ground in Box where Stuart Beeho’s hosts are set to lock horns with leaders Biddestone Social who are starting to get back to somewhere near the form that saw them put together an 11 match unbeaten run earlier this season before it was abruptly ended by back to back defeats against Potterne.

Box Rovers have been decimated with injuries over the past few weeks and had to call of their midweek games against Corsham Centre A. Biddestone have a slender lead at the top but despite beating Rovers 3-2 on the opening day of the season thanks to goals from Kris Beasley and the joint management team of Danny Jones and Dan Lardner the return match could a lot harder to win if Rovers can put out a half decent side, if the hosts are struggling they victory should be a formality for Biddestone.

Corsham Centre A v FC Colerne

Corsham Centre A’s pursuit of a fourth successive title should take a step in the right direction on Sunday when they host relegated FC Colerne at Meriton Avenue. This will be the first meeting of the sides this season but the last time the teams met the Centre claimed a 7-0 victory and if their forwards are firing on all cylinders then the likes of Simon Gray and co are likely to have a field day.

Colerne have not played since they were beaten 11-0 by Westbury Rangers A at t he start of the month and with both of their remaining matches being against the Centre they will be fearing the worse and will be hoping for damage limitation as they are just five goals away from reaching the century mark for goals conceded, which they are likely to pass this weekend as the Centre hope to boost their own goals for tally.

Dog & Fox Ashley v Holt

Dog & Fox Ashley who were having one of their best ever season’s in the top flight until recent defeats at the hands of Corsham Centre and Winsley saw them drop down from top spot to fourth place entertain Holt at St Laurence School, Bradford and Russell Whatley’s side know how important it is for them to claim a second win of the season over their guests for them to stay on course for a top three finish. When the teams met in September the Dog & Fox claimed the spoils thanks to a 7-0 victory and with Holt looking to arrest a five match losing streak that has seen concede 27 goals they know they will have to play a lot better than they have been doing if they are to have any hope of denying their hosts an 13th win of the season and a league double over themselves.

The result should go the way of the Dog but they will have to do it without the services of a few key players who are likely to miss the game due to injuries or other commitments.

Westbury Rangers A v Maud Heath Sports

Westbury Rangers A maybe in fifth place in the table and although they have lost four matches their chances of finishing in the top two are starting to look very slim, but with games in hand on the sides above them they have an outside opportunity of moving up the standings it they can win all of their remaining seven matches beginning with a tricky game at home to Maud Heath Sports. The sides met on the opening day of the season and goals from Darren Holcombe and James Yates earned Andy Townsend’s Maud Heath side a 2-1 victory over a Rangers side who will want to avenge that loss but they way Maud Heath have been playing of late Rangers could struggle to get anything from the game as apart from a 10-2 mauling at the hands of Corsham Centre earlier in the season the visitors to Meadow Lane have always performed well but have suffered six defeats by the odd goal. This game should be another close one and may even end in stalemate.

Winsley v The Ship FC

Trowbridge based Ship FC began life in the top flight with a win against Winsley and when the teams go head to head in the reverse fixture this Sunday, Lee Hayward will be hoping that his Ship side can bounce back to form after a recent 9-0 drubbing at the hands of the Dog & Fox Ashley and earn their first ever double in the premiership. Booker Woodford and Toby Dawson scored two each in the Ship 5-1 success at the start of the campaign, Jamie Jordan netted the other. Since then the Ship who were tipped to do well have lost their way, while Winsley have moved up the table and win number 10 of the season should be guaranteed as they have lost just three of their 12 games in 2009.
