It has been a brolly good week for youngsters at a west Wiltshire school who held a three-day art exhibition based on the painting of Renoir’s The Umbrellas.
Horningsham Primary School, near Warminster, opened their doors to the community, local councillors and Longleat’s Lord Bath from Monday to Wednesday to show off their Take One Picture exhibition.
The display is part of the National Gallery’s annual project where students are asked to create artwork based on a famous painting.
Headteacher Carole Andrews said: “It has been a really brilliant project for engaging children and staff.
“The exhibition is a culmination of all of our work and it shows the community what we have been doing.”
The school was involved in the scheme last year and did so well that they were invited to the National Gallery where some of their work was shown in a temporary exhibition.
Some of this year’s pieces saw the youngsters weaving, dress making, umbrella designing and various other activities over the four-month project.
