PREMIER DIVISION: The big game in the Robson Taylor, Chippenham Sunday League, Premier division this evening has to be the one at The Northbrook, Lavington where hosts Potterne entertain Corsham Centre A and if Potterne emerge as winners of tonight’s battle from what should be a thrilling game will take over at the top of the table from current leaders Biddestone Social.

When the teams met back in September goals from James Lye and Tom Lye earned the Centre a 2-1 success over the villagers and it would be fair to say that current form suggests that the Centre will complete a league double over their guests but it Pete Huntley and Jamie Bayes side can rediscover the form that has seen them beat Biddestone on two occasions this term then the Centre will not have everything their own way and will have to use all their experience to claim all the points that they really need from the game if they are going to maintain their push for a fourth successive top flight title. The result should be another close one and although the Centre are tipped to take the points, Potterne may just get a draw from the game.

Miller Sports v The Ship FC

Tim Knight’s Miller Sports side will complete their season tonight when they host The Ship FC at the Beeches, Shaw. Miller who lost their brave fight to stay in the top flight a long time ago would love to finish their campaign that has seen them claim just one win in 23 games on a high with a victory over Lee Hayward’s side who won the reverse fixture 5-2. The Ship may not have won any of their previous four games but the chances of them slipping up against Miller should be very slim and the visitors should return to Trowbridge with win number seven of the season to their name to leave their hosts hoping for better things when they begin life in division one next term.

Westbury Rangers A v Dog & Fox Ashley

Westbury Rangers A go into their game against Dog & Fox Ashley at Meadow Lane knowing that nothing less than a victory will be good enough for them if they are to keep alive their dwindling chances of finishing in the top two. For Shaun Gardiner’s side this will be their fourth tough game on the trot and having been defeated by both Corsham Centre and Biddestone Social they will be hoping that they can reproduce the form that saw them beat Box Rovers 3-0. This will be the first meeting of the sides this season but in the past the teams have fought out a few classics and from the last 10 meetings Rangers hold the upper hand having won five of the 10, three have ended in stalemate while the Dog have won the other two. However on this occasion Russell Whatley’s Dog & Fox have to fancy their chances of getting the better of their hosts. The visitors are tipped to claim the spoils but they will have to work hard for them and might have to settle for a narrow win.
