Children using a Westbury youth centre have been making an impression on their building which they hope will remain for decades to come.
The project to create a mural was held at the centre in Eden Vale Road on Wednesday and Thursday.
Sally Willox, who is the youth development coordinator at the centre, said: “My job is to listen to the young people and find out what they want to do and organise projects for them “This Easter they wanted to do an art project and decided to do a wall mural so they could stamp their mark on the building.”
One of the murals includes the town’s postcode, BA13, surrounded by silhouettes of some of the children who helped to produce the artwork.
There is also a separate mural that has the words ‘open to all’, which is designed to encourage children from Westbury’s surrounding villages to join the centre.
Every member of the youth centre will also be asked to put their handprint in paint on the wall, which will be added to over the years.
Callum Easton, 16, a student of George Ward School in Melksham, was one of the children involved in the project.
He said: “We all did this so in 60 years time our grandchildren might come here and they will see our artwork.”
A new dance project has started at the centre on Thursday nights. The centre is also open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and will be open on Friday evenings from the end of May.
