An 85-year-old woman had to be freed from her car after it ended up on it side in a ditch off the A365 at Shaw Hill, near Melksham.
The woman, who was not injured, was medically trapped in her blue VW Polo following the crash at just after 2pm.
The car veered off the road near the Golden Fleece pub and became wedged in the ditch. Firefighters from Corsham, Melksham and Trowbridge were involved in the 20-minute operation, which saw the woman taken out of the car on a spinal board through the boot.
Great Western Ambulance said a rapid response car was called out at 2.06pm and at the scene six minures later.
The woman was examined at the scene and taken to see her GP for a check up.
