Well done to everyone involved in last weekend’s events at the new Beversbrook sports facility in Calne.
Like other Calne residents, I hope it will be a great success and used for a wide range of activities by all ages.
Certainly, plenty helped with clearing, moving, painting and building for the cricket club and a good number of other sports gave tasters of what sport is available in the Calne area.
When the big opening event comes along in May, I trust it will be widely publicised so that everyone knows it is not just a cricket ground, but a multi-sports area for all to enjoy.
I also hope that, when students are needed to support activities, as they were for the Primary Schools’ Kwik Cricket on the Friday, that it will be our own students from our local secondary school who are there.
It was great that Devizes students helped out; but, if this is to be a facility that encourages sport in Calne, then involving our teenage population in all aspects is vital for its continuing success.
