An appeal to raise £50,000 has been launched by a charity wanting to buy a van or bus to convert into a mobile scrapstore.

Wiltshire Scrapstore and Resource Centre, in Bowden Hill, Lacock, was launched 10 years ago to promote creativity and learning, mainly among children, by reusing materials that would otherwise end up in landfill sites.

The charity has twice had to move to larger premises. Now visitors can go to its warehouse at Griffin Farm and pay for materials, including packaging and foam, to create something new.

The charity currently hires a van to visit children’s centres and playgroups across Wiltshire, but loading and unloading it is time-consuming, and limiting.

This week they travelled to Westbury, Bradford on Avon and Downton.

Charity director Dilys Fisher said: “If we are able to purchase a new vehicle we will be able to reach a lot more people.

“At the moment we are booked for around four events every day, we're very, very busy. Every penny would be really appreciated.”
