St Andrews Winsley defeated Broughton 3-2 to win the Trowbridge and District Second Division title.

The new champions started off at a fast pace and forced an early own goal when a Broughton player headed into his own net.

The away side responded immediately however and soon equalised through a cracking top-corner free kick.

It looked like the game was going to stay level at half-time, but Tom Giles fired home giving St Andrews a 2-1 lead into the interval.

Both sides kept their intensity up in the second half and following a very competitive period of play, it was Broughton who finally scored when another free-kick was followed in.

Unfortunately for Broughton’s title hopes St Andrews responded, and finished the game and the league off when Jed Osborne drove through the visitors defence and slotted the ball home.

This victory also keeps St Andrews’ unbeaten season intact with them currently on 15 wins and one draw.

Trowbridge Wanderers moved into second spot after securing a 2-0 victory at Bratton. The match was wrapped up by the half-time interval thanks to goals from Adam Mercer and Sam Dawson.

Fourth-placed Bromham travelled to Seend United Reserves and came away with a 3-1 win.

Seend’s goal came from Jake Sainsbury.
