A spate of graffiti has appeared overnight in and around Trowbridge calling for justice for Ian Tomlinson, who died of a heart attack after an alteraction with police at the G20 protests in London.
Scrawled on road signs and stonework in red paint, the messages say "Justice for Ian T" and "Kill Bill", followed by an anarchist symbol. It is thought Bill may be a reference to the police.
Video footage released today shows how Mr Tomlinson, 47, was pushed by a police officer during the G20 protest outside the Bank of England on April 1. He later collapsed and died from a heart attack. Mr Tomlinson was not taking part in the protest.
Ernie Clark, parish councillor for Hilperton, said: "I agree with the right to express views, but in a legal way. This is not the way to do it. This is just going to annoy people and give the taxpayer of Wiltshire the expense of having it removed. They are just going to alienate people with vandalism."
A Wiltshire Council spokesman said: "We are aware of the problem and we will make sure a team of parish stewards get it cleaned up as soon as possible."
The graffiti has appeared on a road sign by Semington roundabout, a Wiltshire Council sign outside the Semington salt depot and a stone sign at the entrance to the Paxcroft Mead estate in Hilperton.
