A businessman from Warminster has been murdered in the Phillipines after three robbers forced their way into his home on Sunday and shot him.
Charles Maxwell, 61, known as Charlie, was shot twice in the chest after the assailants broke into the home he shared with his Filipina girlfriend in the town of Ubay, on the paradise island of Bohol, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has confirmed.
Mr Maxwell, who the Wiltshire Times understands is from Longbridge Deverill near Warminster, died while being taken to hospital.
Police in the Philippines said the robbers took cash and other valuables from his girlfriend, who was unharmed.
Bohol is described as a tourism hotspot and violent crime is said to be a rare occurance.
