A pair of music teachers and fellow band members are hoping to slide their way to the top of the charts with their new book.
Al Summers, of George Street, Warminster, and Ray Bradfield, of Bratton Road, Westbury, officially launched their guitar playing book, On The Slide, at The Organ Inn in High Street, Warminster, with a jamming session in March.
Mr Summers said: “Many of the slide books on the market assume you are going to be very good, very quickly and a lot of them don’t have much music in there to practice to.
“This is material we have been using in our workshops for quite a long time now so we know it works and we thought we would bring out a book that doesn’t assume you would be very good, very quickly. It actually teaches you how to play it.”
Students can hear the music in the book to see how it should sound by visiting a website and downloading tracks.
The book focuses on slide guitar theory and composition.
The pair, who are both in their 50s, play guitar in a band called Biss Delta and have known each other for 15 years.
The particular slide seen being played by Mr Summers in the picture is made of Bristol Glass, believed to have been made out of a sherry bottle, that slides up and down the guitar strings to create a ‘haunting’ sound.
It is mostly used to play blues music.
On The Slide is available from Wessex Books in Westbury, Acre Music in Warminster and online through Amazon for £11.
