A lorry park in Melksham could be closed off after residents living nearby told of how their lives are blighted by litter, noise, drivers using the area as a toilet and even shows of nudity.
King Street car park fills up with articulated lorries each night, leaving residents in nearby Spa Court with sleepless nights as a result of engine noise and unpleasant smells.
One resident was left shocked when she looked out of her window and saw a half-naked female driver changing in her cab.
On Monday, Melksham town councillors agreed to act on behalf of residents and write to Wiltshire Council calling for the area to be closed off to lorries.
Residents described how drivers pull up to their garden walls and are able to peer into their homes from their cabs.
Mary Howard, 67, who has lived in Spa Court for three years, said the problem is blighting her life.
From her bedroom window she has seen lorry drivers urinating just yards from her home and has stopped walking her dog Toby in the car park, as he was often left covered in human waste.
Fumes from the lorries means she is unable to leave her windows open at night – she once had to have her wall cleaned after is was left blackened by smoke.
“They have their engines running from about 4am for 20 minutes to let air into the brakes,” she said. “Then just as they pull off and you start to go to sleep another engine starts and wakes you up and this is pretty much every night.”
Anne Brookes, 64, who lives next door to Mrs Howard with her husband Keith, 62, said she was left shocked after seeing a woman lorry driver sitting topless in her cab just yards from their conservatory window.
She said: “It was very embarrassing. She was just sitting there taking her top off. We are also woken up in the middle of the night and only three days ago I was woken at 5am by running engines.
“We have to draw our conservatory blinds if we want to have a meal without people staring in from their lorries.”
Edna Thomson, 81, another resident, said she had been disturbed by the lorries for several years, but had never thought to mention it to neighbours or complain.
The issue was brought before the town council by Lib Dem councillor Jon Hubbard, who found out about the issue while canvassing in the area.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Council said: “We have only recently been made aware of the concerns with the lorry park and will be investigating to see how we can help.”
