The Lions at Longleat received their own Easter treats this week, in the form of decorated ostrich eggs.
The eggs were suggested as a festive treat for the pride after a member of the big cat team read that lions will eat the eggs in the wild.
Typically the pride get through 18-stones of meat a day, or 40 tonnes a year, so the eggs came as a welcome change.
Deputy head warden at the park near Warminster, Ian Turner, said:" To be honest it worked a dream. We put a handful of eggs into the enclosure and sat back and watched.
"The females moved in first with Sky practising the snatch and run technique whilst Nola treated it more like a plaything before she realised that it was actually edible."
