A charity based in Westbury which helps children affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster has renewed its appeal for storage space to collect donations.
Chernobyl Children in Need has two 20ft containers at Comet’s distribution centre in Quartermaster Road, on the West Wilts Trading Estate.
But earlier this month Comet announced the centre may close in August and now the charity needs a new site to store its containers.
The containers are vital to the charity - last year they stored £83,000 worth of clothes, blankets and toys, which were later delivered to schools, hospitals and orphanages in Belarus.
Charity chairman Adrian Walker said: “At this point in time I cannot say where we will be moving for sure. I’ve had several nibbles, as I like to call it, from companies in the area.
“A removal firm from Corsham have kindly offered their help and I’m going to see the company director.
“We need a site big enough to put the two containers and ideally we need a location within 15 miles of Trowbridge or Westbury. We also have to have a folklift facility in order to take the aid off lorries.”
The charity will be sending its final package of humanitarian aid from the Comet site on April 24.
Anyone who can help the charity to find a new home for their containers, or wants to donate items for humanitarian aid can call Mr Walker on 01373 858584.
