Division One

Blue Circle 4 Freshford United 2

Blue Circle and Freshford United swapped league positions as Blue Circle won by four goals to two. Freshford started the brighter and scored the opening goal through Phil Little, but by halftime Circle were level as Sean Sheppard hit a 25 yard screamer.

The second half saw a repeat of the opening of the first with Freshford regaining the lead with a goal from Dave Birleson.

The Cement men then hit back again through Kane Scott for 2-2.

Sean Sheppard completed a hat trick with two more goals again both from over 25 yards out to make it 4-2.

FC Northbridge 3 Bradford United 9

Bradford United remain in mid table after travelling to FC Northbridge and coming away with a 9-3 win. John Baker started the goal fest for the visitors before Jack Bottomley made it 2-0.

Northbridge hit back through Richard Bradbear, before three more goals from Adam Cooksey, two, and Mark Williams secured a 5-1 half time lead.

With the second period a few minutes old Northbridge hit two quick goals through Ben Tilling and Andy Colebrooke to make it 5-3, but Bradford were not fazed by this and scored a further four goals from Simon Morris, John Andrews and a brace from Aidan Blowers to complete the final score.

Seend United 1 The Deverills 3

Match of the Day in Division One saw league leaders Seend United play hosts to inform team The Deverills.

By half-time The Deverills had established a one goal advantage thanks to a goal from Gary Lewis.

The second period saw The Deverills apply even more pressure on Seend and they were rewarded with a second goal coming from the boot of Mike Payne. Shocked into action Seend then scored themselves through Leigh Stevenson to make it 2-1, but The Deverills were not going to be denied their deserved victory and scored a third with minutes remaining through Darren Monroe to take the points and keep alive their hope of being crowned champions.

Steeple Ashton 1 Lavington 7

Lavington hold onto third spot in the table thanks to a comfortable 7-1 win over their hosts Steeple Ashton.

Ashton scored their only goal of the match through Matt Gurke, before a Myles Hickton hat trick gave Lavington the advantage at the halftime interval.

Craig Campbell then made it 4-1 early on in the second period, before three goals in the last ten minutes from Dan Kingsbury, Stewart Swan and Luke Chant wrapped up the points.

Trowbridge Town A 4 Semington Magpies 3

Semington Magpies stay in fifth spot despite suffering a 4-3 defeat at Trowbridge Town A.

The only goal of the first half for Trowbridge came from Kurt James, whilst Kelvin Lockwood scored Semington’s.

The second period saw the home team race into a two goal advantage with shots from Steve Morris and Lee Hayward, before Stuart Barber and Kelvin Lockwood again tied the match with ten minutes left.

The winning goal came with time running out and was a cool 30 yard shot from Dave Burrows.

Westbury United A 1 Frome Town Sports 2

Second placed Frome Town Sports travelled to rock bottom Westbury United A and by half time they were one goal behind after Westbury scored through Adam McMakin.

The second period saw a rejuvenated Somerset side take to the field and they were soon on level terms after Phil Webley scored.

Frome then went onto take all three points as Will Sheppard scored with five minutes of play left.

Division Two

Bromham Reserves 11 Frome Town Sports 1

Frome Town Sports A travelled to Bromham Reserves for their last game of the season and left suffering an 11-1 defeat.

Frome opened the scoring, but that was as good as it got for them. Bromham then scored the equaliser through Tom Paget, before a Jim Sandiford brace and an Anthony Butler goal made it 4-1 at the halftime interval.

The second half turned into shooting practice for the Bromham strikers with goals coming from Darren Brown, Dan Powell, Sam Paget and two each from Luke Campbell and Freddie Paget.

Broughton FC 5 Bratton 1 Broughton kept open their slim chance of being crowned Division Two Champions after beating Bratton 5-1.

All six goals in this match came in the first period; Julian Putt, two, Sean Fordham, two, and Adrian Bridge for Broughton and Ian Gray for Bratton.

Division Three

The Stiffs 4 FC Chippenham Youth A 0

The Stiffs regained some early season form to record a convincing victory over Chippenham Youth.

The Stiffs played against a strong wind in the first half but dominated from the first whistle even starting with ten players after the late arrival of goalkeeper George Rabczak.

After some fine play The Stiffs took the lead after a piercing run down the right wing by Chris Benton who beat two Chippenham players before delivering a fine cross which was met by the head of veteran Keith Quadling whose bullet header left the keeper floundering.

The Stiffs continued pushing forward and were rewarded after a corner was diverted superbly by Matt Alland into the path of Bryn Holt who prodded home to give The Stiffs a 2-0 half-time lead with Rabczak not having made a save.

The second half continued in the same vein with more pressure from The Stiffs and another fine run by Benton who drove through the defence to score a third for The Stiffs.

Chippenham lost the ball direct from the kick off and as the ball broke loose Holt sublimely chipped the Chippenham keeper for his brace and The Stiffs fourth.

Chippenham were then reduced to ten men after an awful tackle lead to a Stiffs player being carried from the pitch and probably out for the remainder of the season.

The Stiffs continued pushing forward creating several more chances which they were unable to convert and Rabczak did not make one second half save due to some fine defending which was ably marshalled by Ali Bachelor.

Westfield FC 3 Steeple Ashton Reserves 2

Steeple Ashton Reserves travelled to Westfield for their last game of the season determined to record at least one victory, and they got off to the perfect start scoring after only five minutes through Sam Stevens.

Eleven minutes later it was 2-0 as Stevens struck again as the visitors were dominating play. Westfield were glad that the half-time whistle bought some respite to their battered goal.

Fourteen minutes into the second half Westfield found themselves back in the match after some route one football.

Matt Allen their goalkeeper cleared the ball from inside his own area and two bounces later it was in the back of the Ashton net after Dan Stevens in goal misjudged the flight of the ball under pressure from Ryan Allen.

With their spirits lifted Westfield went in search of the equaliser and they got the goal four minutes later as Luke Smith scored.

With eleven minutes remaining Westfield scored again thanks to a headed own goal any striker would have been proud of.

With time running out Ashton went in search of an equaliser which resulted in Dean Gumm being dismissed for foul and abusive language when he didn’t get a penalty decision in the 90th minute.

Then Richard Stevens saw red for a second cautionable offence in the first minute of stoppage time, leaving them finishing the match with nine men and losing 3-2.
