PREMIER DIVISON: With Robson Taylor, Chippenham League Premier division leaders Potterne without a game this weekend it will give the chasing pack the opportunity to close the gap on the villagers at the top of the table.
Dog & Fox Ashley who were unable to raise a team last weekend visit local rivals Winsley and they should welcome back manager Russell Whatley who knows that his team are going to have to play really well if they are going to pick up the points that would keep them in second place.
When the teams met a month ago the result ended in a 2-2 draw and it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the spoils were shared again as both teams have lost have been in good form this year.
Box Rovers v Semington Rovers
The 10 men of Box Rovers did really well to battle to a 3-3 draw against The Ship last weekend, but if they are short of numbers for the visit of Semington Rovers to the Rec this weekend they could come a cropper.
Box manager Stuart Beeho who missed the game should be back for they game against a Semington side who could still be hurting after conceding two late goals against Biddestone Social last Sunday that saw them surrender a 2-1 lead with just two minutes left on the clock.
Semington won the reverse fixture 3-0 and although they would love to complete a league double over their hosts they are unlikely to get their wish as Box are tipped to avenge their earlier defeat by the odd goal in a low scoring contest.
Corsham Centre A v Miller Sports
Having scrapped their way into the Eric Hughes Memorial Knockout Cup final last weekend with a 7-3 extra time win over Westbury Rangers A three time defending premier division champions Corsham Centre A will be expecting an easier time this weekend when they host relegated Miller Sports at Meriton Avenue.
The Centre who are looking to extend their unbeaten run to nine matches have already defeated Miller 6-0 this season and it would be a surprise if they didn’t better that scoreline as in true Centre fashion they seem to be getting better as the season progresses but although they should beat Miller with ease they are going to have to be at their very best if they are going to keep things going from now until the end of the season as they still have 14 matches remaining in which they can’t really afford to drop many points if they are to take gold again.
Holt v Biddestone Social
Biddestone Social who have dropped down to third place will be ready to pounce on any slip up from the teams above and a trip to Holt should see them take maximum points that could take them into second place should Dog & Fox fail to beat Winsley.
Biddestone who have been hit with injuries in recent weeks and have been struggling for a team returned to winning ways last Sunday with a 3-2 success over Semington Rovers and the ought to follow that up with a victory over Holt who they have already beaten 5-0 this season when Gary Banks top scored with a hat trick.
Holt who missed out on a game last weekend would love to arrest their four match-losing run but sadly for Stuart Faint’s side that is unlikely to happen and Biddy should cruise to win number 12 of the season to get they push for the title back on track.
The Ship FC v Maud Heath Sports
A Bradley King-Taylor hat trick earned Lee Hayward’s Ship FC side a 3-2 victory over Maud Heath Sports when they teams clashed in Calne a few weeks ago and with the sides scheduled to meet at Woodmarsh this coming Sunday the return match promises to be as exciting.
Maud Heath who were without a game last Sunday are locked on 15 points with their hosts in the standings but Andy Townsend’s have games in hand and should they win them would pull well clear of the Ship and could even gain a top six finish.
The result is really hard too call but if the hosts have got their clutch of promising youngsters like King-Taylor, Tom MacKinder, Toby Dawson and Jake Hiscocks available they may just nick the points but if Lee Hayward’s side are missing their key players then the points will be heading back to Calne.
Westbury Rangers A v FC Colerne
With FC Colerne already relegated, Westbury Rangers A will welcome the villagers to Meadow Lane confident that they will put the disappointment of last weeks Knockout Cup semi final loss against Corsham Centre A behind them.
Shaun Gardiner’s side may be down in fourth spot at the moment but if they can put together a winning run they have a realistic opportunity of finishing in the top two.
Rangers should begin their title run-in with a victory over Colerne who they beat 3-2 back in January when goals from Marc Lanfear, Nathan Hallett and Sam Gooding earned them victory.
Things could be a little easier for Rangers this time around as Colerne may be just happy to get their remaining three games out the way as they bring the curtain down on what has been a poor season for the Bath Road club.
