Two people arrested in connection with a suspected arson attack in Melksham have been released on police bail.
Detectives arrested an 18-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman yesterday, after five people, including three children, were forced to flee their home in Sangster Avenue after a caravan caught fire and flames spread to their home and a neighbour's property at 4.30am yesterday.
The heat from the fire was so intense it blew out the windows at the home and three houses were cordoned off by police.
Detective Constable Chris Hitchcock, who is investigating the incident, said: “Two adults and three children were in the house at the time and thankfully they all managed to escape unhurt.
"I would like to appeal for anyone who was in the area of Sangster Road at the time or who has any information regarding the fire to contact me at Melksham CID on 0845 408 7000.”
