Two people are being quizzed by detectives this afternoon in connection with a suspected arson attack at a house in Melksham.
Detectives have arrested two Melksham people, an 18 year old man and a 39-year-old woman, after five people were forced to flee their home in Sangster Avenue after a caravan caught fire.
The heat from the fire was so intense it blew out the windows at the home and damaged a neighbouring property. Three homes have been cordoned off by police as the investigation continues.
Police were called to the scene just after 4.30am by the fire service.
Detective Constable Chris Hitchcock, who is investigating the incident, said: “Two adults and three children were in the house at the time and thankfully they all managed to escape unhurt.
"I would like to appeal for anyone who was in the area of Sangster Road at the time or who has any information regarding the fire to contact me at Melksham CID on 0845 408 7000.”
The two people arrested are being quizzed at Melksham police station.
Information may also be left anonymously on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
