A history society has launched a project to record a village’s history onto CD Rom thanks to a lottery grant of more than £9,000.
Dilton Marsh History Society, formed 16 years ago by Alison Irving, now secretary, and Chris Millard MBE, who was chairman for 11 years, received a lottery grant for £9,250 in February and launched the project at the village hall on Saturday.
The money will go towards producing a CD Rom, which will depict the history of the village in five sections: Victorian Dilton Marsh, the First World War up to the 1930s, the Second World War up to the 1960s, Dilton Marsh and industry, and Dilton Marsh then and now.
The society is interested in hearing from anyone who has old photos, maps or artefacts from the village, or anyone who would like to get involved in the project should contact Mrs Irving on 01373 827649.
