A credit union in west Wiltshire will be creating a new job and offering more training to staff thanks to a £20,000 grant from a housing association.
Selwood Housing donated the money to the union to provide financial help and advice to its tenants and west Wiltshire residents.
John Alford, chairman of Selwood Housing, said: “This donation allows us to take the next step towards providing more financial services to our tenants, including a budgeting payment service and access to emergency loans.”
Sam Selman, president of West Wiltshire Credit Union, said some of the money would be used to hire a new staff member to help run an office in the United Church, Melksham.
Credit Unions are community-based local savings and loan schemes.
