Division One
Bradford United v The Deverills
In a match dominated by defences, Deverills just about deserved the three points which Danny Hargreaves grabbed for them with a close range header from a corner on 52 minutes.
This was the first real effort on goal from either side, but Bradford later had two chances to equalise both falling to Jack Bottomley, his lob narrowly clearing the crossbar and a fine save at the foot of the post by Scott Lewis denying him when he shot from 12 yards.
Blue Circle v Westbury United ‘A’
Westbury United ‘A’ travelled the short distance to Blue Circle and lost by the odd goal in five to remain bottom of the table.
Neil Watts opened the scoring for the hosts, before Ashley Easton equalised for Westbury just before the half time break.
Westbury then took the lead midway through the second half with a goal from Adrian Chantry, but that was the cue for The Cement men to lay siege to the Westbury goal and with ten minutes to go they equalised through Simon Dolbeer.
With the match heading for a draw and time rapidly running out the Westbury defence switched off and let in Kane Scott to score Circle’s winner.
Freshford United v Steeple Ashton
After last week’s cup hammering by Freshford, Ashton made more changes than a network-rail timetable.
Freshford started brightly with Kitchen at the heart of all United’s good moves. Ashton stood firm at the back with Coveney and Taylor dominating as centre-backs.
Ashton keeper Jones then had to be alert to make a smart save as Neil Taylor half blocked a Phil Little shot which nearly sneaked in.
The half time interval saw a 0-0 score line.
The second period sees Freshford get that little bit of luck that Ashton are not getting at the moment.
When the ball bounces kindly for Phil Little who squeezes the ball home from the far post.
Ashton continue to battle away gamely but Dave Birleson neatly finishes, when he slides the ball under JJs body and puts Freshford 2 up.
It then goes from bad to worse for the visitors as Mike Hindle gets sent off for using abusive language directed at the Freshford keeper.
The ten men of Ashton then rally, Walker’s neat turn leaves United centre-back flat-footed and can only kick out at Walker, penalty to Ashton.
Gurke smashes home the spot kick for 2-1, but they are unable to find an equaliser.
Frome Town Sports v FC Northbridge
Frome Town Sports stay in second place after a comfortable 5-1 win over struggling FC Northbridge. John Bennett got the home side off to a perfect start scoring after only three minutes.
Northbridge then rallied and hit back through Phil Simonot.
Frome restored their one goal lead just before the interval as James Rustell made it 2-1.
The second period saw Frome increase the tempo and they scored a further three goals as John Bennett completed a hat trick and James Rustell scored his second.
Lavington v Seend United
Fourth placed Lavington played hosts to League leaders Seend United and both teams went away with a point in a match that finished one apiece.
Both goals coming in the second period, John Gale scoring for Lavington and Kai Miller for Seend.
Semington Magpies v Trowbridge Town ‘A’
Semington Magpies took on Trowbridge Town ‘A’ and the match finished with honours even as the match finished 2-2.
Semington had a 2-1 lead at the halftime break as Stuart Barber scored a brace before Trowbridge scored one of their own.
Midway through the second period Trowbridge scored the all important equaliser.
