A donation of £1,000 will help buy new shrubs and flowers for a public garden in Melksham over the next few months.
The money has been given as a gift by the Melksham and District Gardeners Society, which is still in existence but has not been active for about ten years.
The cash has been collected by the society over the years from subscriptions, flower shows and raffles.
Chairman Sheila Wilkinson and treasurer Jean Harris wanted to see the savings go towards something that could benefit the whole town.
It will now mean more flowers, plants and shrubs as well as a plaque in the town’s Prince of Wales Garden near the Roundhouse in Church Street.
Mrs Harris said: “We went to the town council and made the offer and I think the work could now be imminent.
“A lot of people use the garden and sit there relaxing taking things in so we want the new flowers to be scented for people to enjoy.”
She said membership of the club had dropped off around ten years ago, as former members moved on to do other things or didn’t have enough time to dedicate to the society any longer.
