Pupils at Hilperton Primary School enjoyed Indian drumming, French skipping and a visit from exotic animals last week.
The activities were all part of “Getting Global”, a week designed to excite pupils’ curiosity in the wider world.
Headteacher Ruth Farrell said: “We are already finding out a lot about France, through our partner school at Cérelles, in the Loire Valley, but this week was packed full of learning about the global community which our pupils will be part of when they grow up.”
As well enjoying a visit from a python, rats and a parrot from Longleat Safari Park near Warminster, each class studied a country from around the world.
One class studied Iceland in detail, and was treated to demonstrations of how volcanoes work, complete with explosions and lava.
Other classes studied Japan, China, Morocco and the Indian Ocean islands.
The children also had visitors from China and The Sudan to discuss different cultures, and school dinners featured a range of international food.
"It was a wonderful week, there wasn't one activity that we were disappointed in. The children were really excited by it. It's definitely something we'd repeat in the future," said Mrs Farrell.
