The body of a middle-aged man was found at a flat in Melksham town centre this morning sparking a joint operation involving police, fire and ambulance.
Wiltshire Police confirmed a body of a man, believed to be in his 40s, had been found in a flat in Bath Road. Their investigation into how he died is in its early stages, but they don't believe there are any suspicious circumstances.
The man has not yet been formally identified but his family are being informed of his death this afternoon.
Police were called to the flat, above a shop close to Sainsbury's superstore, at 9.45am and their inquiries have been continuing throughout the day.
A spokesman for Great Western Ambulance Service said they received a call at 9.41am from someone on a mobile phone, who said they thought a man had died at the flat.
A paramedic in a rapid response vehicle was sent to the scene and arrived at 9.52am, along with an ambulance.
Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were also involved in the operation and a spokesman said a crew from the Cooper Avon factory, just a few hundred yards down the road, attended the scene after receiving a call from the ambulance service for assistance.
