I am writing with regard to your recent story (Wiltshire Times, February 27) about a proposal to build a Mechanical Biological Treatment plant on the Northacre Industrial Park, Westbury.
In your piece it stated that a report completed by the Environment Agency highlighted a chemical compound that was likely to exceed safe levels of emissions. This was incorrect.
The report about the compound and the subsequent recommendations was produced by SLR, the environmental consultancy working for Hills Minerals and Waste Ltd. The introduction to the article, which states plans to build the recycling centre have been approved by the Environment Agency, is also wrong.
We have at this stage given no formal response to the application.
