I have read in the Wiltshire Times (March 13) that Bradford on Avon Town Council has decided to spend £400,000 pounds on St Margaret’s Hall I find it very insulting that the Mayor Paul Skidmore said it would be only 21p, at the bottom end of the scale it will be £102 for every property in Bradford plus any interest.
I find that subsidy is an insult to the businesses in Bradford on Avon who are trying to make a living, plus give employment in a very difficult climate, only for the council to try and undermine the efforts of the business people of Bradford on Avon.
If there was no other venues in Bradford on Avon I would agree but there are plenty of businesses who would welcome the revenue with no cost to ratepayers.
I would like to think that the council would put this to a vote so the people of Bradford on Avon could have their say.
If they will not, maybe they would all resign and have a new election to see if they could still get elected.
