Plans to extend Sainsbury’s in Melksham creating 30 new jobs have been submitted to West Wiltshire District Council.
The Bath Road supermarket carried out a consultation programme, including a six day public exhibition and meetings with the district council, town council and chamber of commerce, before submitting its application.
The plans would see the shop extended by 13,000 square feet and 119 car parking spaces added.
The store’s petrol station would be moved to vacant land next to The Bear pub in Bath Road.
The new jobs would be full and part time.
David McElhannan, Sainsbury’s regional development executive, said: “Obviously the final decision on the planning application rests with the elected members of the new Wiltshire Council and we await their decision with interest.”
