Hockey: Chippenham Ladies 2nd achieved promotion for the second time in as many years with a home victory against Wick on Saturday.
Sharon Thomas’ second half strike separated the teams and also ensured Julie Lodge’s side were crowned Wessex League champions.
“We’ve got a lot of youngsters who have come through the third team to the second and are still improving,” said Lodge.
“We’re going into a league just one behind our first team.
“It’s a really high standard of hockey and I can’t wait.”
Chippenham travel to West Wilts Ladies 2nd on Saturday.
l CHIPPENHAM Ladies’ first team shrugged off their 4-0 defeat to Bristol University on Saturday to beat Wootton Bassett Ladies 2-1 on Sunday. Their goals came from Kelly Johnson and Tracy Davis, boosting Chippenham’s relegation battle.
