Police in Warminster have praised the swift actions of a local man who saved a teenager from an attacker on Saturday evening.
The assault took place in Warminster town park just after 5pm, where a man was seen punching and kicking a 19-year-old woman close to The Ridgeway.
A local man, who was walking through the park at the time, ran over and challenged the attacker, shouting at him to stop, which he did.
Police were called and were at the scene within minutes.
The woman was treated for facial injuries but did not need hospital treatment.
PC Graham Briant said: “I am impressed by the actions of the passer-by and have no doubts he prevented any further injury to the young lady.
“It's not easy sometimes for people to stand up and protect themselves or other people but this man got it spot on.
*A 32-year-old man has been charged with causing actual bodily harm and has been remanded in police custody until his first court appearance.
