Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a spate of attempted break-ins in Lacock over the space of two nights this week.
The George Inn, in West Street was one of the first businesses targeted, between Monday night and Tuesday morning.
Pub manager Janet Harris said: “We did not realise there had been a break-in until the next day when the glaziers who came round to sort out the window said that it looked like somebody had attempted to break in and when we looked outside it was obvious that someone had tried to get into the kitchen window because the paint work was damaged.”
On the same night it is thought that independent store Quintessentially English may have also been targeted as the store’s burglar alarm was set off during the night.
In the early hours of Wednesday morning a group of four youths attempted to break into Watling Jewellers, in East Street, with fence posts but made off in a small car when a passer-by disturbed them.
