A 13-month-old baby boy born three-months premature helped present a £1,000 cheque to a hospital’s baby unit appeal on Saturday.
Thomas Creighton and his mum Kerry handed over the cheque raised by members of the Trowbridge Sugarcraft Association.
Thomas is the grandson of one of the association's members.
About 50 members of the group baked and decorated Christmas cakes to sell last year to raise money for the neonatal intensive care unit for premature babies at the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
The money was handed over to the hospital’s Forever Friends appeal in Holt on Saturday.
Group chairman Dot Baston said: “The group has been raising money for the past 25 years for local causes and this was the cause we chose for the fundraising at Christmas.”
The presentation took place at the Sugarcraft Signets group, a club for youngsters to get creative with their cake decorating skills, which is held at the Holt United Reformed Church.
The money will go towards a new £4.7 neonatal unit that is planned for the RUH as part of the Forever Friends’ Space To Grow campaign that aims to provide new mums with larger, state-of-the-art facilities, to match the quality of staff service there.
