Detectives investigating the death of Trowbridge builder Adrian Cooksey have until tonight to charge or release one man arrested on suspicion of his murder.
Yesterday magistrates in Chippenham granted police extra time to quiz a 20-year-old man arrested over the weekend - giving them until 9.15pm tonight to question him.
A second 20-year-old man arrested on Sunday remains in police custody and they have until 3pm to quiz him following the granting of a warrant for further detention. Police could apply to magistrates to detain him for longer.
The Wiltshire Times understands the two men were arrested at different locations. One is believed to be from the Melksham area and the other is from outside of the county.
Mr Cooksey, 50, was found by an off-duty police community support officer on the pavement in Spa Road in the early hours of March 8. He had suffered a fatal head injury.
The two arrests followed a reconstruction by Wiltshire Police of the route taken by father-of-three Mr Cooksey from Coronation Road towards the Market Place, where he was going to catch a taxi back to Trowbridge.
