CHARITABLE villagers in Box raised £1,300 for charity at the weekend by tucking into a hearty breakfast.
More than 140 people attended the Quarryman’s Arms pub on Saturday morning for the annual big breakfast event.
The Box branch of Cancer Research UK hosts the event each year with the help of the pub’s owners John and Ginny Arundel, offering people a full English breakfast for £6 or a continental one for £3.
Group secretary Barbara Drury said: “It was a brilliant day. We had so many people come along, helping us to raise more than ever before at a big breakfast.
“We would like to thank John for all of his hard work behind the scenes making the breakfasts and to our chairman Ann Narraway who put so much hard work into organising the event.”
More than 140 people turned up to enjoy a breakfast and £241 which was raised from a raffle was included in the final total of £1,300.
Mr Arundel said: “This is probably our fourth or fifth year at Quarryman’s. We do a lot for charity anyway and this is a cause we like to help each year.“ All of the food was donated from local suppliers which means all the money made can go to charity.
Proceeds will be split between the Box support group and Cancer Research UK.
