Firefighters were called out to a house in Corsham on Friday evening to tackle a bedroom fire caused by candles.
Two fire crews from Corsham were called to the property in Corston Avenue at 5.40pm on Friday after the fire, which was started by candles left unattended, had taken hold in one of the bedrooms.
Fire watch manager Mark Unwin, said: "A team of 15 firefighters were called to the house where the blaze had damaged the bedroom and extensive smoke damage to the rest of the first floor.
"Nobody had been injured in the house as the four people who were in the building when the blaze started had got out by the time we had arrived.
"It took us around an hour-and-a-half to get it under control and to make sure the house was safe before we distributed leaflets to neighbouring houses on fire safety."
Before tackling the fire the team saved a budgie, a parrot and gerbils from the house.
