Chippenham Town manager Adie Mings praised his players' resiliency after yesterday's 1-1 home draw against Farnborough, but hinted at his frustrations at the side's continuing goalscoring woe.

The Bluebirds boss let loose at his players after Tuesday's 'spineless' defeat at home to Oxford City and demanded an immediate improvement.

While they looked a much stronger outfit against a better side, their goal came from defender Ross Adams and missed a glorious chance to take all three points in the 84th minute when Sean Seavill David Pratt and Scott Lye combined to miss a glorious trio of chances.

"As a back five they were outstanding," said Mings.

"Chris Snoddy kicked superbly. i spoke to him on Thursday, we sat down and had a chat, and again before the game. I was disappointed with the performance on Tuesday but he has bounced back today and I thought he was superb.

"The back four held a superb line in the second half in difficult conditions and it was a testament to them that we came away with a draw in a game we could have even won.

"But that has been the story of our season. Chances like that at the end have gone begging but on another day that one goes in and you nick it 2-1.

"But I think it was a fairly even game between two sides who want to try and play and I was just pleased we put in a better performance than on Tuesday because i thought that was very poor."

Mings said in his newspaper column this week how he would look to bring in a new striker to spearhead their push for promotion but revealed, despite identifying targets, that now looks an unlikely option.

"We spoke to a few clubs but again finances dictated," he said.

"Good strikers are hard to come by and don't come cheap so anybody who has got a good striker is going to hold onto them.

"Obviously league clubs who've got good strikers are now looking at tying them down for deals for next year so they're also reluctant to let players out.

"We had a couple we tried to bring in but we couldn't really afford it."
