Lorry driver Steven Butler has told an inquest today about the horrific moment he found Trowbridge man Bert Reeves under the wheels of his scrap lorry.
Mr Reeves, 63, died after being run over while working at Shanley's Scrap and Waste Reclamation Site in Green Lane, Trowbridge, on June 21, 2007.
He had just returned to work after a two-week holiday in Spain.
A jury at Flax Bourton Coroner's Court and deputy coroner Brian Whitehouse heard today how lorry driver Steven Butler, 47, was reversing his last load of waste for the day when he spotted a machine remote control laying in front of his lorry.
Getting out to investigate he saw the legs of Mr Reeves sticking out from the front of the vehicle Mr Butler said he could see there was a lot of blood and Mr Reeves' had suffered serious head injuries.
The Wiltshire Air Ambulance was called and Mr Reeves was taken to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol but he died from his injuries later that day.
The inquest will continue tomorrow
