Firefighters were making a splash for cash on Saturday by hosing down cars for charity.

Crews at the Trowbridge station in Hilperton Road tackled mud and grime on vehicles driven into the station, in exchange for a donation.

Firefighter Paul Cobb, said: “People gave us donations and they were very generous with what they gave.

“We raised £357.40 altogether and although we have a minimum donation of £3, people did give a lot.”

Mr Cobb said there were around 12 of them taking part during the day and the event took place over four hours.

All proceeds will go towards the Fire Fighters Charity, which helps serving and retired personnel and their families.
