A mobile breast screening service will not visit Bradford on Avon after building work cut off the power supplies to the site the van uses.
NHS Wiltshire has said the cancer screening unit, due to be located outside Sainsbury’s on the Elmcross Business Park off Frome Road, will now be based at Trowbridge Hospital after they were unable to find an alternative power source in the town.
The NHS Cancer Screening Programme is run by the Great Western Hospital in Swindon.
Sharon Charity, a spokesman for NHS Wiltshire said: “The mobile breast screening unit for west Wiltshire has been moved from Bradford to Trowbridge, after building work at the Sainsbury’s site inadvertently cut off the power supply.
“Although the service tried to find an alternative site in Bradford on Avon, no suitable site could be found, so the decision was taken to move the unit to the car park at Trowbridge Hospital.”
Efforts were made to contact every patient whose appointments were affected by the change, by phone or letter.
If you are a patient in Bradford and did not receive this notification, contact the Breast Screening Service at GWH on 01793 604227.
As well as Trowbridge, the service also visits Warminster, Westbury and Melksham.
