Chippenham's hopes of reaching the play-offs suffered a massive blow last night after they suffered a two goal humbling at the hands of Oxford City.
A Steve Casey own goal in the 22nd minute started the decline and unusually the Bluebirds were unable to rally themselves and mount a comeback.
If anything it looked as though the visitors would go on to score the next goal and they did on the 53rd minute with a calm finish from James Faulkner.
Manager Adie Mings threw on a succession of attacking substitutes but none were able to influence the game in a meaningful as his side slumped to a comprehensive defeat.
Chippenham must take six points from their next two games to have a realistic chance of making the play-offs, however they are against league leaders Farnborough and fierce rivals Swindon Supermarine.
