WHAT DO THEY SERVE?: The Boundary House is an Arkells pub, and 3Bs costs £2.40 a pint while the brewery’s guest ales come in at from £2.40 to £2.60. A pint of lager costs £2.85, a small measure of wine £2.40 and a large one £3.20. A measure of spirits costs £1.50 and a house double £2.20.
WHO DRINKS THERE?: Landlord Dave Howells said: “This is one of those old, traditional pubs with plenty of local people and plenty of banter.” According to the brewery’s website, the three-storey building has been around since 1877 and stands on the site of an even older inn. Originally known as The Red Lion, it was thoroughly refurbished in 1990 and given a new name to reflect the fact that it once marked the boundary between Swindon proper and the tiny hamlet known as Moredon. The website adds: “The busy Boundary House is well suited to the growing trend towards family-friendly pubs with their emphasis as much on good value food as good beer. And those just looking for a drink will also find the pub as comfortable and roomy inside as it appears from the outside.”
FOOD AVAILABLE?: The Boundary House is no gastro-pub, but it does have an extensive selection of crisps, nuts and other snacks, not to mention tasty rolls with various fillings at £1 each.
SPECIAL EVENTS: Every Sunday night is bingo and quiz night, and details of other special events are available at the pub itself. There are also events aimed at helping local good causes, such as one being planned for August which will benefit the Prospect Hospice. Further details will be available nearer the time.
CHILD POLICY: The Boundary House is very much a family-friendly place, with children welcome provided they are supervised by responsible adults.
DISABLED ACCESS: The pub is accessible, and friendly assistance is always available.
PARKING: The Boundary House has a large car park.
OPENING HOURS: Noon-midnight daily.
