Following a couple of weekends off Chippenham found themselves in dangerous ground near the bottom of the table so they travelled to Lydney in search of points.
Chippenham started the match badly when Jane Smedley went down injured and play continued with Lydney finding the back of the net after Chippenham stopped playing.
This setback seemed to upset Chippenham who fell further behind when Lydney linked together a useful set of passes which saw Chippenham struggling and Lydney capitalised on these errors.
Chippenham then struggled further with umpiring decisions going against them which saw a number of short corners awarded against them.
One of these was initially saved by Chippenham but the follow up shot was a fluke shot which fired into the roof of the net.
Chippenham were shocked that they found themselves 3 goals behind, but it seemed to fire Chippenham up who began to play some good hockey with some excellent linking play.
Julie Lodge found herself in ample of space and began to distribute the ball around the pitch which saw Chippenham make some attacking plays.
One of these attacks saw the ball passed up the right to Laura Carey, who drove the ball into the D and crossed the ball to find Rhiannon Roberts free to slot the ball past the goalkeeper.
After the break Chippenham came out strongly and pressurized Lydney into making errors which Chippenham were unable to capitalise on.
Chances came and went without Chippenham being able to find the back of the net.
Lydney did not give up hope though and stretched their lead when on the break a free player slammed the ball into the back of the net.
Chippenham again began to link some play together and which saw Sabina Falcone pass the perfect ball to Kelly Johnson who lifted the ball over the approaching goalkeeper to give Chippenham a glimmer of hope.
Unfortunately Chippenham’s hopes were dashed when Lydney scored again to finally put the game out of Chippenhams reach.
This loss unfortunately now puts Chippenham into the relegation zone.
